VO Microphone Mounting Options

After a few years of trying different mounting configurations I’ve found one that I’m really pleased with. Check out this video to see if it will work for you. (Purchase links below.)

The best microphone mount solution for my voiceover audio booth is the Impact Pivot Arm. I’ve been using these “magic arms”, as they are often called, in my video production work for years. In my booth I use smaller ones to mount my cell phone, lights and behind the scenes cameras.

The pivot arms feature an elbow in the middle and a ball joint on either end. You can get your mic into just about any position, standing or sitting, that you would want.

Flexibility for Tight Spaces

Voiceover booths tend to be tight spaces so I needed my mic to hang down from the ceiling.

“Magic Arm” Phone Mount

I pair this 7” mount with a cell phone mount.

Camera / Light Mount

In addition to mounting by behind the scenes DSLR camera on this one. I also clamp a light on it from time to time.

I purchased the kit from BH Photo Video and got a nice super clamp for my video lighting kit with it. If you don’t need the superclamp, well, get it anyway. For some reason the kit is cheaper than buying the Pivot Arm by itself.

I screwed an Avenger baby wall plate into the ceiling of my booth:

Interested in the smaller ones? Here’s one that can screw directly into the wall:

And one that I used with the screw-in plate I took off my gooseneck:
